Summer shadowing at the Trauma Center
I was assigned a resident doctor for the morning, I watched him splint a wrist and ankle injury. They were very traumatic injury’s so the process was aggressive and he had to be super innovative with his approach. It was awesome the way he was able to maneuver the bones from the outside.
What I learned from shadowing
One of the most memorable moments from my shadowing experience was seeing my first C-section. I had never been in an operating room or seen a surgery before, so I was really excited but also nervous about what I was going to see.
Shadowing at the Trauma Center
During my shadowing day, I observed a free flap surgery whilst shadowing surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and surgical technicians. The surgery was super cool to watch, and the staff were very kind and even taught me how to prepare the OR beds!
